This position is located in Office of the Prosecutor, of the IRMCT Arusha branch, under the supervision of the Senior Pre-Trial Attorney on the Kabuga trial team and/or the Officer-in-Charge.

Organizational setting and Reporting:

Responsibilities:

Administrative Assistance: The incumbent provides daily administrative assistance to the investigation team in administration of the Prosecutor’s case. S/He gives guidance to new staff on unit procedures and briefs them on general administrative matters. Maintains contact with unit members and trial team members to ensure that sufficient operational support is provided to the team and the unit. Attends team meetings and assists in timely and accurate dissemination of information to other unit staff.

 

Assistance to Staff: Receives and maintains log of daily filings, including confidential and public filings from Registry. S/He liaises with the Case Manager to ensure timely distribution of filings. S/He maintains appropriate electronic and physical systems for the retrieval and dissemination of documents to be used by the Case Manager and the trial team. Co-ordinates the monthly reporting of trial statistics and provides instructions and guidance to junior level staff. S/He provides interim administrative support to trial team in preparation for trials (i.e., preparation of disclosure, witness binders, exhibits and identification and retrieval of documents). Replace Case Manager in court, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; demonstrated ability to use computer technology.

Work Experience:

Minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible experience as a paralegal or in a court related environment. Case management practice and litigation experience desirable. Management of filing systems for both physical and electronic documentation also highly desirable.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of Kinyarwanda is highly desirable. Working knowledge of French and/or Kiswahili is an advantage.

Technical Focus

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the guidance of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), working in close collaboration with the various programme officers and with regular consultation and coordination with the Sub regional Communication Officer (based in Harare) and Regional Communication Officer (based in Accra) the incumbent shall ensure coherence with FAO’s corporate communication policy and operational guidelines for all communication and information outputs.. Specifically, the tasks will be the following

Tasks and responsibilities

Research and draft media and advocacy materials; create/prepare documents for publications in journals, position papers, opening speeches and talking points

Collect and synthesize information and package; including production, editing of human interest stories including success stories and case studies, press releases, media advisories, web stories for all FAO Tanzania projects, programmes and campaigns.

Document and edit texts of a specialized or technical nature on FAO’s work in order to ensure accuracy, clarity, cohesion and conformity with FAO; house-style language, policy and practice

Lead the preparation for the annual World Food Day activities in the country and the participation of FAO Tanzania in other important food and agriculture related national events including the International Day of Forests, Nane Nane (Farmers’ Day) etc.

Track, research and analyze information on assigned topics/issues; gather information from diverse sources and help synthesize briefs

Lead editorial review of FAO Tanzania public information documents, videos, public materials (including the website and social media platforms), presentations, newsletters, bulletins for public review

Design, plan, formulate and manage the Office’s social media presence – in line with the FAO’s Corporate Guidelines

Provide advice to FAO Tanzania staff on the strategic use of media tools (including social media) to strengthen FAOs agriculture and food security leadership and advocacy role.

Under technical leadership of projects CTA/Coordinators, develop and disseminate visibility materials to promote projects

Under technical leadership of ECTAD Team leader develop and disseminate visibility materials on GHSA/EPT-2/OH and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Prepare and coordinate high profile visits, events around FAO global, regional and local work.

  • Technician certificate in any of the survey related fields of Cartography, Civil engineering, mining engineering, geology should be accompanied with experience of working as a survey assistant in underground mine environment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 2 years working experience in Underground Mining environment as a survey technician.
  • Experience in Software’s – Mincard, Surpac, Deswik, Maptek point studio.
  • Experience in using and operating Leica and  instruments ie Total stations and RTK GPS
  • Experience in using Survey scanners for both Underground and Surface.

Complete assigned work in a timely manner with minimum supervision and to an internationally acceptable standard.

Ensure Supervisor and all stakeholders are kept informed on equipment availability status.

Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential and assume increasing accountability.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experience personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure active waste and ore development faces are mapped in accordance to the scheduled plan.
  • Update daily grade control drill hole information on the appropriate “Database/Spreadsheets” in an accurate and timely manner
  • Complete and accurate grade control database (including QAQC component) and Ore Production database/spreadsheets available at all times
  • Ensure the delineation of economically mineable ore zone to ensure minimum dilution and maximum recovery of gold
  • Active involvement and assistance in underground grade control practices and procedures through effective monitoring and communication.
  • Ensure timely and accurate underground sampling, lithological and structural mapping, and logging of core to provide geological information for the optimum mine design and daily decision-making processes.
  • Ensure updated underground channel/face sample results are available in both paper and digital version, geological logging and assay reporting proceeds
  • Ensure underground channel and grade control samples are delivered to the laboratory in a timely manner, sample submission forms are complete and accurate, samples are clearly labelled and in correct order, and that QAQC samples are present according to procedure.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the geological controls of the different ore bodies at Bulyanhulu Mine and the regional geological settings.
  • Provide the geological support to ensure the optimum development of the ore body.
  • Complete project work and presentations to a professional standard as and when required.
  • Ensure that employees and contractors comply with Barrick’s safety and environmental standards and any legislative requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate geology inputs to facilitate the preparation of mine plans.
  • Develop an understanding of support standards and methods used underground to ensure a safe working environment
  • Monitor the progress of geology resources against daily production plans.  Assess delays and re-prioritise tasks / personnel as required.  Immediately inform the Underground Geology Superintendent or Mineral Resources Manager of delays that may affect mining targets
  • Monitor underground Ore mining and haulage practices to ensure are conducted according to agreed standards and procedures
  • Achievement of agreed targets for the department in terms of minimum dilution of Ore, maximum gold grade production, delineation of resources and reserves and Update and monitor systems to ensure geology and assay databases are complete, accurate and accessible.

Generator Technician  

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Generator Technician to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Engineering and Services department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Reporting to: Mobile Fleet Surface Supervisor

Work Schedule: 5 Days Day Shift / 2 Days Day Off

Duration: Permanent


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings
  • Wear the appropriate PPE for the task at hand;
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Comply with maintenance procedures and ensure all task are completed to OEM standards
  • Conduct equipment pre start checks and daily inspection
  • Perform mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance for generators in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production and cost Targets
  • Conduct troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance for generators and CAT Engines.
  • Ensure that maintenance practices result in maximum equipment availability.
  • Perform PM inspection according to the maintenance requirements and ensure preventive maintenance compliance.
  • Conduct upgrades/ modification as per OEM Standards.
  • Removal of components and replacement.
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback to the Supervisor on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
  • Comply on shift handover process.
  • Carry out other task assigned by Supervisor Mobile Maintenance Surface.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:                                                              

Mechanical trade certificate – (FTC, IMTT & VETA)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

3 – 5 Years’ experience in a similar role(Generator Technician)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge on Caterpillar SIS and ET
  • Excellent communication in English ,both writing  and verbal
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment
  • Mine health &Safety Act awareness

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Ensure all parts requested by the maintenance team are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Collect all planned service and breakdown parts ready for the oncoming shift.
  • Work closely with First Line Leaders to ensure efficiencies in workshop.
  • Record data from work orders and various other documents within the Underground Maintenance Department into the CMMS and other computer applications in accordance with established procedures and systems,
  • Enter fuel consumption data into Fuel database.
  • Enter breakdown record into downtime database.
  • Enter equipment monitor points into CMMS.
  • Enter water meter reading data in database or/and Excel sheet.
  • Enter work requests into the CMMS from clerical forms filled out either by non-maintenance personnel or by word of mouth from the originator of the request.
  • Print and distribute routine reports according to established procedures and systems.
  • Maintain clerical document filing systems in an approved, systematic way such that any document may be retrieved immediately and expired documentation is properly disposed of.
  • Ensure the availability and safekeeping of all regulatory documentation within the section.
  • Mail Circulation – Communicate the Approval status of forms & documents
  • Ensure forms are circulated and collected on time
  • Report forms and documents not received on day to day basis
  • Make photocopies of all approved forms and documents for filing purpose
  • Distribute letters and other documents from HR to Superintendents
  • Filing of signed contractor invoices for future references
  • Safeguard confidentiality of documents information
  • Control Office Supplies, Summarize the weekly Requirements of Office Supplies, Order office supplies from the supply store and Ensure an adequate supply of commonly used office forms is available and onto the distribution board.
  • Collect daily pre starts from previous shifts and ensure any critical faults are passed onto the leading hands for immediate attention.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:                                                              

  • Ordinary secondary education
  • Mechanical/Electrical trade certificate – (FTC, IMTT & VETA)
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Position purpose:

This position is responsible for all preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance on all of the mines HV activities as guid­ed by your immediate supervisor and trainer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • A strong Safety focus and ability to ensure a safe work­place through daily inspections and rectification of haz­ards.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
  • Takes reasonable care for their own safety and that of oth­er persons who may be affected by their acts.
  • Performs pre-start checks and SWICs.
  • Ensuring inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
  • Ensures that all tools are serviceable and safe.Must Work to minimise equipment downtime and maxi­mise productivity.
  • Liaises with the underground shift supervisor to:
  • Ensure all work is done in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Advise when items of equipment are out of service and when they can be returned to service.
  • Carries out schedule electrical servicing and repairs in a safe manner.
  • Carries out all repairs in accordance with AUMS proce­dures.
  • Completes all service sheets and documents additional repairs completed during servicing.
  • Planning and Installation of 11KV/1000v high voltage elec­trical systems for underground applications.
  • Install and maintain mine communications systems. (Leeky feeder)
  • Install and maintain mine primary and secondary ventila­tion systems.
  • Maintain l-kon firing lines.
  • Maintain mine dewatering systems including Flygt and Stalker pump rebuilds.
  • Maintains a high level of housekeeping in the working ar­eas at all times.
  • Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
  • Advise immediate supervisor of parts used and any addi­tional part requirements.
  • Report all faults to the Supervisor ASAP.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years Underground Mining experience in hard rock mechanised mine
  • Must have exposure to Sandvik Drill Equipment Jumbo, Solo,Q-Bex
  • HV Switching ticket.
  • Strong background working in underground mining.
  • Able to operate all types of hand tools.
  • Understanding maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
  • Willingness to learn and gain further experience with ev­erything HV.
  • Positive attitude to labour intensive duties.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work auton­omously.
  • Familiarity with Pronto XI Maintenance Management Pro­gram.
  • Must have valid Tanzanian Driver’s License
  • Basic First Aid Knowledge
  • Recognised trade qualification as an Electrician.
  • Above average numeracy and verbal/written English
